Other Types of Health Insurance
Government sponsored health care plans include Medicare & Medicaid. Your state may also mandate particular health care coverages for veterans or children.
- Medicare is intended to offset the pressing medical expenses experienced by older retired or disabled Americans by providing a basic foundation of benefits. Medicare does not cover all services that you might need. Medicare is divided into two benefits, Part A & Part B. Part A provides for substantial hospital care benefits, covering reasonable & necessary services & supplies to treat illness & injury. Part B helps pay for medical & surgical care, diagnostic tests & procedures, some hospital outpatient services, laboratory services, durable medical equipment & a variety of medical services & supplies. Because Medicare does not cover all services many people purchase a Medicare supplement & or long-term care.
- Medicare Supplement is voluntary private insurance coverage purchased by Medicare enrollees covering the cost of services not reimbursed by Medicare. Also known as medigap policies.
