  1. Equifax 800-685-1111
  2. Experian 888-397-3742
  3. TransUnion 800-916-8800
There are three major credit-reporting agencies in the United States. They are known as Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Due to a new federal law that went into effect on September 1, 2005, all consumers are now entitled to receive a free copy of their three credit reports on an annual basis, one from each of the credit reporting agencies. It is wise to obtain your report from each agency because the information is likely to be very different between agencies. This is because the credit reporting system is a voluntary system, which means creditors can subscribe to any of the agencies they want, if any at all.
